THE HANDS BEHIND DESHAJA

THE ARTISANS

They do not supply for Deshaja. They build it.

Every artisan on this page is a Growth Partner — named, credited, and a co-owner of the brand their hands help create. They carry centuries. Deshaja carries them forward.

10

Growth Partners.

Each one named. Each one credited. Each one a co-owner.

WHY WE DO THIS DIFFERENTLY

The craft industry has a word for the people who make everything.

Supplier. Vendor. Artisan. Words that describe a transaction. Words that say: you deliver, we sell, you disappear into the supply chain.
Deshaja has one word for the people who make everything.

NAMED ON EVERY LISTING

Every product on Amazon.com and deshaja.com carries the artisan’s full name, village, and district. Not “handcrafted by our skilled artisans.” A name. A person.

60-SECOND FILM

Every artisan has their own video — shot at their loom, in their village, in their own language. The QR code on every Deshaja box links directly to their film.

CO-OWNERSHIP

Every Growth Partner holds a stake in Deshaja. Not a bonus. Not a thank-you payment. A structural co-ownership that vests over three years as the relationship deepens.

WELFARE CORPUS FUND

2% of every Deshaja sale goes into the Artisan Welfare Fund — an emergency corpus for Growth Partners. Zero interest. Artisan-governed. Available within 72 hours of application.

Partner.

Not because it sounds better. Because it means something completely different.
A vendor delivers a product and is done. A Growth Partner builds a brand — and grows as the brand grows. Their name travels with every product. Their story is told on every box. Their ownership is structural, not symbolic.
This is not Deshaja’s CSR initiative. This is Deshaja’s founding belief — embedded in the company’s legal structure from day one.

THE GROWTH PARTNER MODEL

What it means to build Deshaja — together.

THEIR CRAFT IS THE CREDENTIAL

Deshaja does not have a product without the artisan. They are the brand. Their GI-certified technique is the only reason Deshaja can claim authenticity. They are not supporting the brand — they are the reason it exists.

THEY GROW AS DESHAJA GROWS

Co-ownership means Growth Partner equity grows in value as Deshaja grows. Every sale, every customer, every year of the brand’s growth adds to the value of what each artisan holds. This is the alignment no other craft brand offers.

THEIR VOICE IS PART OF THE BRAND

Annual Growth Partner Meets. Sales reports shared with every partner. No decisions about the artisan portfolio without artisan input. Deshaja is not a brand that speaks for its artisans — it creates space for them to speak for themselves.

THEIR VILLAGE IS ON THE MAP

Sambalpur. Koraput. Berhampur. Nuapatna. Dhalapathar. Habaspur. Every village that produces for Deshaja is named, mapped, and made discoverable. Because the geography is the luxury — and the people are the geography.

THE 9 GI-TAGGED CRAFT TRADITIONS

WHY THIS MATTERS BEYOND THE PRODUCT

A craft that earns, continues. A craft that does not, disappears.

Odisha’s GI-tagged handlooms are not at risk because of lack of skill. They are at risk because of lack of economic dignity. When a weaver earns less than a daily wage worker for 14 days of extraordinary skilled labour — their children choose another path. And five centuries of knowledge goes with them.
Deshaja is not a heritage preservation project. It is a commerce solution. If the artisan earns well, the artisan stays. If the artisan stays, the child learns. If the child learns, the craft continues. The GI-certified traditions of Odisha do not need a museum — they need a market.

We are not preserving craft as a relic.

We are making it a living, earning, growing inheritance.

GENERATION TO LOSE IT ALL

If the economics don’t work

Every time you buy from Deshaja — you are not buying a product. You are funding the economics that keep a craft alive for the next generation.

DESHAJA

Origin is the Original Luxury

The artisan’s hands carry centuries.
The knowledge of which thread to tie. Which root to boil for the right shade of red. Which tension to give the warp so the pattern lands exactly where it should.
This knowledge was not written down. It was handed down.

Deshaja exists to make sure
there are hands to hand it down to.

We will notify you as each Growth Partner profile goes live — their story, their craft, their village.
